My friends Ryan, Sebastien, and I started an environmental studies class at the beginning of our 7th grade school year. In the class, we focused on the dangers of plastic straws and single-use plastic. We came up with 12 alternatives to plastic straws, and debated which one was the best. We looked at different aspects such as wholesale cost, storage, and how environmentally friendly they were. We came down to paper straws, compostable straws, and no straws as the best options and after a lot of hard work and perfecting our presentation we pitched our ideas and findings to Darden Corp, Bloomin’ Brands, Chipotle, Adidas, and Panda Express!
